Lake View Cemetery offers a diverse year-round schedule of educational and cultural events. All walking tours, unless otherwise noted, start at the Garfield Monument. To make your reservations, call (216) 421-2665. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.

FULL MOON & SEARCHING FOR OUR FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS  
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

In a joint venture with The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, Naturalist Mary Martin will teach participants about the habitat of the deer and red fox, while searching for their signs at Lake View. Reservations and a $5.00 fee required. Please enter through the Mayfield gate, and park behind the President's Monument.


HORTICULTURAL WALKING TOUR  
Saturday, October 18, 2008 
10:00 AM - Noon

Join us as David Gressley, Lake View's Horticulturist, takes us on a leisurely walk, discussing the variety of plants, trees, and shrubs found at the Cemetery. Reservations and $5.00 fee required. Parking is available behind President Garfield's Monument.


ALL SAINTS DAY OBSERVANCE  
Sunday, November 02, 2008 
3:00 PM

All Saints Day starts with a Walking Tour discussing the many special people buried at Lake View Cemetery. Also at 3:00, a non-walking tour will be presented inside of Wade Chapel. At 4:00, Rev. Ralph Fotia will hold a service in rememberance of all saints in Wade Chapel. Reservations are required. Parking is available along the sections that surround the Chapel.


PRESIDENT JAMES A. GARFIELD CELEBRATION  
Saturday, November 15, 2008 
1:30 PM

In celebration of our 20th President's 177th birthday, a Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place at the Garfield Monument. Parking is available behind the Monument


HOLIDAY PROGRAM OF MUSIC AND LIGHTS  
Saturday, December 06, 2008 
1:00 PM and 4:00 PM

Please join us for our 14th Annual Holiday Program in the spectacular, historic Wade Chapel. The merry music, bright candles, and lovely chapel surroundings are sure to lift your spirit for the season. Parking is available in front of the sections surrounding the Chapel. Reservations requested, as seating is limited.


SCHWAN GRAVESITE TREE-TRIMMING

10:00 AM

Join us as Hope Lutheran Church decorates a tree at the gravesite of Rev. H.C. Schwan, of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, known for bringing a candle-lit tree into a public sanctuary for the first time on December 24, 1851. Parking is available on "Lake Road" in front of Section 25.


You can arrange a tour led by a volunteer docent -
normally scheduled April through October

A typical walking tour is 1½ hours and includes the Garfield Monument and Wade Chapel. Groups must have a minimum of 12 people and be prepared to walk for the entire tour. There is no cost for the tour - however donations to The Lake View Cemetery Foundation are appreciated. (email link) For planning purposes, please contact our Community Relations department at least two weeks prior to your desired tour date.

GROUP BUS TOURS
You may arrange a bus tour (your own arrangements) and we will supply a volunteer docent to guide your group for a 1½-hour tour. There is no cost for the tour; however, donations to The Lake View Cemetery Foundation would be appreciated.

SELF GUIDED AUDIO TOUR
If you would rather go at your own pace, just pick up a cassette or CD at the office just inside the Euclid Avenue entrance to direct you on a self-guided tour, which includes stops at Wade Chapel and the Garfield Monument. Buildings are open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, during April through October. A refundable deposit of $5.00 is required for the cassette or $10 deposit for CD.

SUNDAY LOLLY THE TROLLEY TOURS
June 22 August 31st (1:00 pm) Lake View Cemetery will conduct a 75 minute guided tour of historic Lake View Cemetery, aboard Lolly the Trolley, with a 15 minute stop at the exquisite Wade Chapel. The Garfield Monument may be visited before or after the trolley tour. The tour starts at Garfield Monument. Cost is $6.00 per person.
Reservations required — limited seating.
