The
Lake View grounds contain rare plants and flowers inviting study
and enjoyment by everyone. Lake View's full-time horticulturist
is responsible for maintaining the collection and creating related
educational programming.
The
change of seasons brings new beauty to Lake View, be it the stark
beauty of winter, the blaze of autumn leaves, springs' pastel riot
or summers' exuberant perennials.
The annual blossoming of Daffodil Hill, a collection of over 100,000
bulbs, an ongoing project since the 1940's, is one of our most popular
attractions.
Estimated
to be 150 million years old as a species, the Ginkgo can be considered
a "living fossil".
Lake
View is home to an invaluable collection of stately Japanese thread-leaf
Maples.
Nicknamed
"Moses Cleaveland" because the trees date back to the
founding of the City of Cleveland over 200 years ago.
